UNCOVERING: At The Journey we seek to Uncover a sacred pathway to God through Intentional Faith Development
"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
- II Peter 1:5-8
Bishop Robert Schnase writes that, “Christ’s gracious invitation through radical hospitality invites and welcomes us, and God’s transforming presence in Passionate Worship opens our hearts to Christ’s pardon, love and grace, creating in us a desire to follow. Growing in Christ requires more than weekly worship though, and it is through Intentional Faith Development that God’s Spirit works in us, perfecting us in the practice of love as we grow in the knowledge and love of God.”
Some of these sacred pathways of Intentional Faith Development that we will uncover include:
- A Relational Pathway where one comes to know God more deeply through their relationships with other Christians.
- An Intellectual Pathway where one comes to know God more deeply through study of Theology and history, etc.
- A Servant Pathway where one comes to know God more deeply through serving their sisters and brothers.
- A Contemplative Pathway where one comes to know God more deeply through meditation and other soul quieting practices.
- An Activist Pathway where one comes to know God more deeply through taking positive action in issues of peace and justice.
- A Creative Pathway where one comes to know God more deeply though creative activities like writing and painting.
- A Worshipful Pathway where one comes to know God more deeply through acts of public and private worship of God.
The Journey will continually offer studies that will enable people to discover and enrich the individualistic ways that people grow in their relationship with God. One of the first steps is to understand the ways God has gifted you spiritually. To learn more, you can take an online spiritual gifts assessment here.
