OFFERING: At The Journey we seek to Offer ourselves to God through Transformational and Passionate Worship.
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.
"O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you."
- Psalm 63:1-5
In his book, Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, Bishop Robert Schnase writes, “God speaks to us in beautiful sanctuaries and simple buildings, in store-front gathering places and hospital chapels, outdoor under the open sky, and in the homes of members. In every imaginable setting, through worship, people seek to connect with God, allow God’s word to shape them, and offer their response of faith. God’s Spirit changes us through worship.”
Although we are in the very early stages of launching our church and are not currently worshipping consistently as a corporate body, we believe that our whole existence is built for worship. We all worship something – whether it is that new car or our success or something else – our souls cry out for worship. That is simply how we were created. Our hearts long to worship someone or something and our prayer at The Journey is that more often than not our worship will be directed to the true and worthy recipient of that worship. Whether we are in our own building or out under the stars, we seek to live our whole lives in passionate worship of our God.
At the same time, we are working towards our goal of launching public worship as soon as possible. In fact, Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 5:00 pm was our first event where we worshiped together as a community as we celebrated Christmas together with a Christmas Eve Eve family worship service. To see pictures of our time together, please follow this link.
Our next worship together will be on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 5:00 pm. It will also take place at the Painted Horse Pavilion (1750 South FM 1626). Please plan on joining us for a great night of worship and getting to know others along for The Journey.
Many people wonder about the style our worship will take – will it be traditional or contemporary? The best answer that we can tell you is yes and yes. We believe that it will be the best of both worlds – taking the best parts of each. Whatever it ends up looking like, please know that we will always offer our best and highest quality – our first fruits to God because that is a our true calling and anything less would be unacceptable.
